Take Action

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.

Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  Margaret Mead

There are so many Initiatives, Campaigns, Projects, and Activities you can be involved in.  This is a good place to start.  We can introduce you and get things started.  Once you have entered this arena, you will be surprised about all that is going on.   Your energy and voice is needed.

So much work and unity is needed in this area of loss; you could be busy for a long time.  Think about what areas interest you and then find ways to contribute.   Maybe you are inclined to want to see legislative change and more programs for collecting data on certain losses (if so see the Legislative section) and/or you just might want to reduce the number of babies who die (Awareness and the Research Prevention sections).  For example, the ASAP Coalition inivtes people to work together to unify and strengthen voices for Stillbirth Awareness and Prevention efforts.

Your talents may lie with marketing or communications; you might be interested in helping raise awareness through Return to Zeropress releases, events, or fundraising.  For instance, thousands of people around the world are presently helping to market and raise awarenss for the upcoming Hollywood movie Return to Zero about a couple who have a baby die (a stillborn son).  Maybe you want to help others directly (Loss Doulas/Companions/Peer Support) or your state does not yet give a certificate for stillborn babies or you are bothered by the short personal leave given after a baby dies and you want to see that expanded.  Or you might be interested in the ‘Slow it Down’ initiative or the ‘Bring Baby Home after Death’ project (New Projects). Or you might wish to help ensure that your state has a Certificate Resulting in Stillbirth for parents in your state thanks to the leadership of the MISS Foundation (MissingAngels) or help with the Family Leave Act (Kelley/Farley Act).

As you can see, there are so many ways you can get involved and take action.  The most important thing is to TAKE ACTION.  The more people who help, the more we can get done.
